8 Insights That Make Selling Easier

Geoffrey James has a blog that I frequent.

He advises quoting a meaningful statistic sets the tone for the meeting.

I think that’s OK, but I would suggest that you use the statistics to build your credibility, i.e. you know something that the audience does not, but should.

The next step is equally important.

Continue building your credibility by edifying your position, i.e. I’m going to share my perspective based on my vantage point which is XYZ. XYZ should illustrate your expertise.

The third step, which could just as easily be substituted for the first is your headline:

“The one thing I want you to remember after this talk is…”

In my presentations I repeat that point at least three times throughout the talk.

Geoffrey scores big points with another post, “Top 10 Reasons Your Presentation Sucks.”

Great advice for all who have to present. I would add that you should write out your presentation, and then put together your slides. That way you don’t end up flipping through a bunch … a big rookie mistake.
